NAAC Grade ‘A’ CGPA 3.33 Indraprastha College for Women (estd. 1924) is a constituent college of the University of Delhi and its oldest women’s college. Founded as a part of a nation-wide campaign for women's education and empowerment, today this prestigious College has an enrollment of approximately 3500 students. The College offers a wide range of courses, which promotes interdisciplinary studies. Two new courses, B.A. (Hons.) Sociology and B.A. (Hons.) Geography, will commence from the academic session July 2016 subject to clearance from the UGC. Uniquely, the College offers the Self-Financed Bachelor of Multimedia and Mass Communication (BMMMC) course. The College has a Need Blind Admission Policy and offers need based financial assistance to new entrants at the time of admission itself. The College is 100% barrier free and has a “Under One Roof” Enabling Unit (EU) and Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC). A book bank, customised software and reading materials in Braille for the VH are available in the Enabling Unit. A well-stocked Library with a lift for disability access is available to users. The ICT centre with 80 computers is located in the Library. Attached to it is the Museum and Archives Learning Resource Centre with heritage and contemporary exhibits tracing the contours of this historical College. The Translation and Translation Studies Centre on the terrace wing of the College Library for research and independent learning, is very active and popular. Two new research and learning centres have been added in 2016 – Centre for Earth Studies & Center for Interdisciplinary Studies. The College publishes its Annual Report and Prospectus in Hindi and its website in Hindi will be activated very soon. The College has its own studio and production centre with independent editing facilities, a hub for Community Radio with world-wide broadcast facilities through DU, an Audio-Visual Resource Centre, Seminar rooms, state-of-the-art Conference rooms, a fully air-conditioned Auditorium with 586 seating capacity, four Exhibition Foyers, well-equipped laboratories and other infrastructure to support its academic and co-curricular activities. It has vast playgrounds and Multi-Facility Sports Infrastructure with a swimming pool, Climbing Wall, Walking Track, Gymnasium, Shooting Range, Fitness Centre and a sprawling sports complex. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are encouraged. The College has its own 26 seater bus. The College Student Services among many, also has an International Student Desk, North East Society, basic medical facilities to deal with minor emergencies with regular attendance of a Doctor and a Nurse and a Counsellor. The College has a mentorship programme for first year students. It has an active Career Guidance and Placement Cell. The College has two hostels, The 200 seater Kalavati Gupta Hostel (closed in academic session 2016-17 for renovation), and the Indraprastha College Women's Hostel which accommodates 170 students. A limited number of seats may be available for students coming from remote and conflict zones. To support its formidable infrastructure and facilities, it has full power back-up to ensure that all activities are carried out without interruption.
